To the editor:
Further to your recent front page story, "Lifeguard Shortage Hampers Lessons" regarding the 56 students from the Lloydminster Public School Division, I wish to point out that the cancellation of swimming lessons is, unfortunately, not something new.
A group of homeschooled students, who were supposed to take lessons in an eight-day session scheduled for November 15 through 18 and again from November 22 through 25, were told they were out of luck back in October 2010.
It was disappointing but there was nothing we could do about it, other than make other plans for our children and their recreational activities.
The Lloydminster Homeschool Association have a second set of lessons scheduled for the end of March/beginning of April.
I, for one, trust the lifeguard shortage will have been resolved by then, as it would be very sad to have to disappoint our children, once again.

There has been no word, at this time, from the Leisure Centre regarding whether our lessons will be going ahead or if the second set will also be cancelled.
