A Case of Mistaken Identity!

GUY FAWKES
There has been much talk of celebrating Guy Fawkes' Night at our house and Isobel was quite taken with the idea of having a bonfire.  She was worried that we might have our fire while she was away at school, but I assured her we would do it at supper time.

Then she asked me "does the fire have anything to do with the Terry Fox Run guy?" (She participated in the local fundraising walk at her school.)

I thought for a moment and then started laughing - and realized how it would be easy for a 5-year old to get mixed up between Guy Fawkes and Terry Fox!

And so a long conversation followed, about who each of these men were - and how I remembered Terry Fox (as it was only 30 years ago that the first run started), but that it was 405 years ago since Guy Fawkes tried to kill the King.  It's also a good illustration of how younger siblings can learn from the homeschooling activities of another child!

(If you are unfarmilar with Terry Fox, his biographical information can be found here:   http://www.spiritus-temporis.com/terry-fox/ )
